Broken Fishing Rods For Sale

Nature, red in tooth and claw

Because I couldn't remember above line, my Poetry Friday poem are some verses from In Memoriam A.H.H. by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Never ever forget Tennyson!!!

I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

+++

Who trusted God was love indeed
And love Creation's final law
Tho' Nature, red in tooth and claw
With ravine, shriek'd against his creed

+++

So runs my dream, but what am I?
An infant crying in the night
An infant crying for the light
And with no language but a cry.

The most quoted lines of the poem (wikipedia tells me). In my first year in college, I learned what those lines meant... I feel stupid, because I forgot. I'll have to do some serious reading!

Long-playing Baby Mobile

'When the shit hits the fan, get a tent "- William Shakespeare

Bought some DVDs in town.

Driving Lessons with Rupert Grint and Julie Walters (Weasleys reunited)

What a bloody brilliant film.
Ben's the son of a very weird and strict Christian mother. When she "suggests" to him to take on a summer job, he meets Dame Eve. And she changes him and makes him stand up against his loony mother. They go camping, go to Edinborough for poetry readings, and generally have lots of fun. A really nice "that's life" film.
By the way, the quote from the title is from said movie. I don't know if Shakespeare really wrote this, but it would be nice if he did. Makes him a lot more likeable.

The other DVD I bought is 'Death at a funeral' with the "new Mr. Darcy", Matthew Macfayden, right..
[I haven't watched it yet. So, I guess, I will update when I have.]

Scott Kay Ring Helzberg

Sorry, are you talking Scottish now?

A new rule in my life: Don't bother.

I nearly lost the last of sanity I had. It's annoying and it has to stop. Do you want to know who or what bothers me that much?
University. I will try to get my degree as soon as possible and then I'm out of there.

Back to more pleasurable things! :)

Some Doctor Who comedy videos:

"Sorry, are you talking Scottish now?!"

Definitely the best: "Are you the Doctor?" "Doctor who?"

"Do you fancy Billie Piper, sir?"

I'm sooo in love with his accent.

Just ONE thing: Doctor for PM! *waving banner*

Milena Velba Is Pregnant

Getting Old

Yesterday, I had a very busy day. Me and my mum went shopping. That's something one shouldn't look forward to when it involves me and mum and the city. I had to buy some fancy clothes for my job interview I've got next week. And we went grocery shopping for my birthday on Saturday. There's going to be so much food...unbelievable. Anyways....

Again, I found loads of books. Goodreads isn't healthy. Of course, I haven't read them yet, but I'd like to share them anyway.

Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney

- This book has some fantastic illustrations. Although, it is a book for small children ( I think), I want to read it. The message of it is: Make the world a better place! Sounds a bit cheesy, but the book's about an old lady and I love old lady books!

I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith

- It's about a family, especially the two daughters, who live in an old castle they bought when they stil had money. Now they don't. One of the daughters is a writer and of course there is a guy, or even two, who live in the neighbourhood. The review said something about Jane Austen, but I have to think of Diana Wynne Jones and, especially, of Margaret Mahy. And that's why I want to read it. I like this kind of romance.

The Willoughbys by Lois Lowry

- It's a Lemony Snicketish book about orphans and all those fairy tale clichés. So, it's a must-read. I did some googling on Lemony Snicket and it's all great. That means Lemony Snicket joined the other gazillion books on my book list.

The Looking Glass by Frank Beddor

- I don't know if it is a good thing, but this book reminds me of some of the Alice in Wonderland fanfiction I've read. You know, about Wonderland not being fluffy and nice, but dangerous and cruel. There's this Alice character, princess of Wonderland, gettiong transported to Victorian England, where she tells her story to none other than THE Mr. Dodgson, who gets the story all wrong. Then, there's her bodyguard Hatter Madison, looking for her. And of course, the bad guy is the Red Queen, her aunt or something and I BET that the Cheshire Cat is some kind of assassin...

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

- I forgot what it is about. But I liked the title and the cover art was pretty. I know, bad habit... Oh right, it is about a kid daydreaming about all those stories and a king has got this book, the Book of Lost Things...

Process Returned C0000005

magician brothers, black butterflies and other creatures of the night

In October ASP go on tour Unplugged! And at 09.10. they will play in Mannheim in the old fire station.
The focus of this concert series on the 'Krabat-cycle.
The top hit is it so, that chairs are set up! I've never been to a concert could sit where I * sniff *. How much luck can one not have?
I will definitely going away! Anyone with me?

I know why autumn is my favorite season:)

Home Made Electro Torchure

Harry Potter is the future.

Look at this!

Invisibility Cloak now possible

So, after the Invisibility Cloak has hit the market, they are going to invent flying broomsticks and England will be hosting the very first Quidditch world cup. YAY. I love Quidditch.

On the other hand, it is kind of sad that science can accomplish things only magic could do. Magic is so much more cooler and honestly, I don't want to know how EVERYTHING works....

Did I find new books? YES I DID :)

Possessing Rayne by Kate Cann
I loved that book. It has an amazing story and is kind of gothic. There's going to be a sequel next year and I'm looking forward to it.

Synopsis:
Rayne couldn't wait to get away from everything: her mum, her boyfriend, the estate. But the solitude of Morton's Keep isn't all she thought it would be. It's eerie and more than a little creepy. When she meets St John, Rayne forgets her worries; he's like no one she's ever met. So why is everyone warning her away from him? She knows there's something people aren't telling her. But how can she find out the secrets everyone wants to keep hidden ...and more importantly, know who to trust?

Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror by Chris Priestley
I haven't read it yet, but I definitely will! The homepage is brilliant: Tales of Terror (do you know now why I want to read it so badly?)
Synopsis:
Uncle Montague lives alone in a big house and his regular visits from his nephew give him the opportunity to relive some of the most frightening stories he knows. But as the stories unfold, a newer and more surprising narrative emerges, one that is perhaps the most frightening of all. "Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror", it transpires, are not so much works of imagination as dreadful lurking memories. Memories of an earlier time in which Uncle Montague lived a very different life to his present solitary existence.

I guess, I'm into Gothic Fiction at the moment <3

Laptop Off Brand Power Cord

Poetry Friday again!

Today, I'm going to post a not so typical poem.

Cemetry Gates by The Smiths/Morrissey

A dreaded sunny day
So I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
A dreaded sunny day
So I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
While Wilde is on mine

So we go inside and we gravely read the stones
All those people, all those lives
Where are they now ?
With loves, and hates
And passions just like mine
They were born
And then they lived
And then they died
It seems so unfair
I want to cry

You say : "'Ere thrice the sun done salutation to the dawn"
And you claim these words as your own
But I've read well, and I've heard them said
A hundred times (maybe less, maybe more)
If you must write prose/poems
The words you use should be your own
Don't plagiarise or take "on loan"
'Cause there's always someone, somewhere
With a big nose, who knows
And who trips you up and laughs
When you fall
Who'll trip you up and laugh
When you fall

You say : "'Ere long done do does did"
Words which could only be your own
And then produce the text
From whence was ripped
(Some dizzy whore, 1804)

A dreaded sunny day
So let's go where we're happy
And I meet you at the cemetry gates
Oh, Keats and Yeats are on your side
A dreaded sunny day
So let's go where we're wanted
And I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
But you lose
'Cause weird lover Wilde is on mine

Sure !

Isn't he awesome?! (Go raibh maith Hannah!)
